What is the fuse requirement for installing an accessory 12V outlet in a auto?

This for power to charge cell phones etc. The cigarette lighter power source is not available for this.

a 1 amp fuse will work fine for charging cell phones and etc. if your going to run a lap top you might need a 2 amp fuse. its easy do do the math

just look at the power requirments for any charger your going to use; it will tell you how much power it will pull

You need to determine that highest wattage that you will be using this outlet for. Then you divide by 12 to get the amps, which will determine the wire size needed. Then you use a fuse that will blow when the amp capacity of the wire is exceeded. Fuses protect wires from carrying too much current.

Cell phones etc ?? What is etc ? Some cig lighters had 30 amp fuses because they had 2 heat an Element - A cell phone charger MIGHT use a 10 amp fuse @ max. B sure U know what the AMP draw is B 4 U plug anything into it !

5 amp. Is the standard for “accessory port”
15 amp for “lighter”
